Just Carter Co. creates "Visual - Physical  Performances" for Festivals, Theaters, Special Events, Private Functions, Gallery Openings, Fashion Shows, and for just about anywhere that requires something spectacular.

Under the artistic direction of Carter Timmins Boyajian, her brand of theater incorporates the techniques of physical acting, improvisation, dance, object manipulation, site-specific installation, sound and lighting design. This marriage of so many mediums has created a hybrid art form -- definitively dramatic – a fresh theatrical experience!

“I have always been interested in the crossover between the visual and the performed arts. Most recently, my performances are based on my ongoing exploration of the neutral mask. © The Nudes, my faceless characters are sculptural abstractions of the human form. I think of the body as a living piece of art. By masking it entirely you’re left with an empty canvas for the physical actor to fill with the metaphoric image of choice. While completely masked, we communicate to our audience purely on a visceral level.”

Following seventeen years of classical dance training and performing in several regional ballet companies, Carter discovered the physical acting technique of mime master Etienne Decroux. For the past two decades she has followed Decroux’s dictum that theater is the art of the actor; the corporeal artist (physical actor) does not explain - rather provokes the communication between audience and actor. 

Over the past fifteen years, and in addition to directing her own company, Carter has co-created dozens of original visual theater spectacles with internationally acclaimed performance company Pink Inc., Art in Motion. Being primarily a touring company, Carter has performed internationally on four continents. Prior to her partnership with Pink Inc., Carter toured through out Canada and the United States as a member of The Adaptors, Mirage Mime Theater, and with Studabaker Movement Theater.

Since 1995, Just Carter Co. has appeared in Theaters, Galleries, Museums, Cabarets, Festivals, Parades, and Special Events throughout the Northeast United States

Just Carter Co.’s aim is to take the show out of the theater by making the world their stage and their audience, well, everyone! Her performances promise to entertain and stimulate the imaginations of young and old alike.
